THE DUSTBIN ESTATE, AJEGUNLE

Last week, we had a brief discussion on the Dustbin Estate, Ajegunle [click here if you missed it] and I told y'all that The Hope 4 Lyfe Foundation would be visiting there on the 7th, and we did.

See ehn, in this life eh I have seen things but not once did I imagine what I saw on Saturday.... this dustbin estate is actually a dustbin in all its essence.... they said the place is a swamp and since the Government has refused to sandfill the place to make it livable, the residents use the refuse as their sand so they can build their plank houses on it.... while we walked around, the ground was soft like you could feel the water under.

That's an incinerator in between those two shops.... did I mention that they also rear their goats, sheep, cows and chickens near their houses..... their kids don't bother going to the toilet, they just do their business wherever they like and move on

This is freshly-fetched water for God knows what

One thing that struck me was the smiles these kids had on their faces.... it was like they were oblivious to their environments and what they were passing through

Some goodhearted person, Tolu Sangosanya, has a resource center there where she teaches the kids.... she has 163 kids registered in her resource centre and she feeds them at least 3times a week....
I have a shocker for you guys.......
This house is actually beside the dump..... a resident owns this big house

And the bigger shocker is this..... This Hummer belongs to one of the community leaders of  the Dustbin Estate and he lives there too...... You see, while we were going around, some of the residents kept screaming at us to stop taking pictures and videos of them, that after all their leaders just bring us around and then take whatever we give them and that's the end

Well, after all said and done, The Hope 4 Lyfe Foundation has decided to concentrate on the resource centre, funding it and all to help these kids be great.... so if you would like to be a part of it, nothing is to small; nothing is too much as well, just contact me for details.... Also, if you have any other thing in mind, like something to help filter their water or something, please do not hesitate......
GOD BLESS YOU

  3. Omg the gap between the rich and the poor is massive - people live in such filthy conditions And someone is 'living the life' - my poor heart is bleeding profusely. Thanks to all kind hearted people especially Tolu and may God bless you richly as you change the life of others.

  5. It's disheartening to know that people still live in such conditions in Lagos with all the wealthy politicians around and all the resources in the state.
Thanks a lot for the awareness.
Happy Val's day to you; just realized that you graduated from my Alumni, Uniben.

  6. This is why a lot of us long for the days when we were kids. Not a care in the world. God made it so for a reason. Please send me and email with details of how to donate. naijabachelor82@gmail.com. Thanks.
